State Board of Education Meets

The State Board of Education held its monthly meeting today.  Among other agenda items, the Board:


  • Approved beginning the Administrative Procedures Act (APA) process to revise the business rules of the Mississippi Statewide Accountability System effective for the current school year.  The proposed revisions will modify several sections, including Section 1.7 (Performance Classification for Nontraditional High Schools), Section 9 (Acceleration), Section 15 (English Learners), and Section 21 (Alternative, Career and Technical, and Child Development Centers).  Click here to review the proposed revisions.
  • Approved plans for the Oxford School District to become Mississippi’s newest District of Innovation, bringing the total number of Districts of Innovation to eight. Oxford’s plan includes a modified district calendar, a middle college program, a career academy, a personalized education pathway counseling program, and a comprehensive professional development program for teachers.
