Teacher pay/compensation, PERS/retirement, and education funding are the top 3 policy issues of most importance to K-12 respondents.
Faculty/staff salaries, PERS, and dual credit are the top 3 policy issues of most importance to respondents working in a community college or university.
Teacher compensation, lack of support/respect for public education, and the amount of testing are the top 3 factors contributing to Mississippi’s teacher shortage.
71% of respondents support allowing teachers to return to the classroom and draw their retirement, as well as a salary.
82% of respondents oppose the diversion of state funds from public schools to nonpublic schools, home schools or virtual schools via vouchers, tuition tax credits, scholarships, individualized education funds, or other means.
47% of respondents support legislation that would allow properly trained school employees to carry guns on school campuses.
