Governor Tate Reeves announced earlier this afternoon that school buildings will remain closed for the rest of the school year and student learning will continue via distance learning, packets and other means.  He suggested that local districts may decide to offer summer or early fall classes if students have fallen behind during the closures, but he emphasized that this will be at the discretion of each local district and will not be a statewide mandate.  Governor Reeves thanked administrators, teachers, bus drivers, cafeteria workers and other staff for their efforts in feeding students and providing learning opportunities these past weeks.  He is working with Dr. Wright to develop an executive order addressing the extended closure of school buildings and the order will be issued in the coming days.
