FFCRA Provides Leave for Educators During COVID-19

MPE has received numerous questions as to teachers’ rights related to the reopening of schools amid COVID-19.  We are developing on a “Frequently Asked Questions” document to share with our members ASAP.  In the meantime, click here for information shared by MDE regarding the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA).  The FFCRA, which went into effect April 1, 2020, and expires December 31, 2020, applies to local school boards. Full-time and part-time school employees are covered by the FFCRA and are eligible for the two weeks of emergency paid sick leave (EPSL) if they meet one of six qualifying reasons.
