Legislators returned to Jackson yesterday, October 1. SB 3057 passed the Senate yesterday morning and passed the House last night.  The bill clarifies the legislative intent of the Mississippi Pandemic Response Broadband Availability Grant Program which was enacted via HB 1788 earlier this year.  SB 3057 authorizes local school districts to spend program funds for licenses to use equipment and services, including hotspots. Such licenses are normally considered prepayments and are not allowed, but SB 3057 will allow districts to purchase hotspot licenses for no longer than one year.  SB 3057 now heads to Governor Reeves for his consideration. Legislators finished their work earlier today and adjourned Sine Die, so the 2020 Legislative Session has officially concluded.
