Educators will examine the core purpose of Section 504—ensuring equal opportunity, preventing discrimination, and providing Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE). Through collaborative activities, role-plays, and real-world scenarios, participants will strengthen their understanding of key terminology, team responsibilities, and procedural steps, including referral, evaluation, and plan development. The session concludes with hands-on practice in effective writing, individualized 504 Plans by identifying appropriate accommodations and applying learning to student case studies. A reflective discussion at the end of the day will encourage participants to consider how to apply this knowledge to improve equity and support for all students.
