National Board Certification Advocacy

Building capacity of networks to advocate on a local and state level for legislation for National Board Certification is important.  In this session, participants will learn how to become advocates for the National Board and NBCTs.  You will learn how to tell your National Board story with confidence and describe the value of National Board Certification to stakeholders.

Component 1: Content Knowledge

Unpack the myths surrounding the computer-based assessment, Component 1, which  focuses on the demonstration of certificate specific content knowledge and pedagogical practices.  In this session, participants will examine the three constructed response exercises and review selected response items found in the assessment. 

Component 3: Teaching Practice and Learning Environment

This session introduces candidates to the three focus areas of Component 3: learning environment, student engagement, and sequence of instruction. Candidates will chart the requirements of Component 3, learn how to navigate the component directions, and discuss ways to capture accomplished practice in video evidence.
