Are You Retiring from PERS Within the Next 5 Years? Need Help?		4/1/2023	4/1/2023	10:15 AM	11:15 AM	4/1/2023 10:15 AM - 11:15 AM Presenter: Ron Kyzar Participants will learn 4 things that must be done to retire from PERS and explore common mistakes made when making PERS decisions. Participants will examine Partial Lump Sum, Lifetime Income Options, and 13^th check (COLA). They will learn how to coordinate PERS benefits with Deferred Comp/403(b), IRAs, Roth IRAs, and your spouse’s retirement plan.
Leveraging Your Tech Toolbox for In-Person Learning		4/1/2023	4/1/2023	10:15 AM	11:15 AM	4/1/2023 10:15 AM - 11:15 AM Presenter: Melissa Adkins, Lamar County School District Technology can be used to amplify learning in the person-to-person classroom environment. In this session, participants will discuss and explore tech tools, resources, and strategies that help make technology transparent, the thinking routines prevalent, and our students’ engagement and metacognition visible. The role of AI, computer science, teaching and learning strategies, and a few of the most versatile web-based platforms will be explored to exhibit how effective use of technology can enhance student learning and success. Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop to personally experience the positive impact technology can have in the classroom.
The Integration of Equity Practices and Discipline Procedures		4/1/2023	4/1/2023	10:15 AM	11:15 AM	4/1/2023 10:15 AM - 11:15 AM Presenter: Dr. Sarieta Pollard 0This session explores how the integration of equity practices with addressing discipline in schools impacts students with disabilities. It also explores how equity practices impact the Manifestation Determination Review(MDR) process. The session will analyze how to incorporate practices such as positive behavior interventions, classroom procedures, training teachers in social and emotional learning, creating positive school climates, de-escalation techniques, and conflict resolution to impact student discipline. All topics will be tied to understanding the manifestation determination review process, ensuring students with an IEP are provided a FAPE, and preventative as well as immediate steps that must be taken to remedy any deficiencies in the MDR process.

In this session, you will learn about saving money, by comparing payroll deduction options (403(b)/Deferred Comp) to Non-payroll deduction options (Roth IRA and Section 7702 Overfunded Life Insurance). Participants will explore assets you might inherit as well as leave an inheritance to your family.
