2/8/18 Legislative Bill Tracking: Senate Voucher Bill Dies

Today was the deadline for each chamber (i.e., House or Senate) to pass general bills originating in their own chamber. The Senate failed to consider its voucher bill (SB 2623) before the deadline, so the bill died on the calendar. While Lt. Governor Reeves issued a statement mid-afternoon today stating that SB 2623 would die due to a lack of support in the House for the bill, it is my understanding that he did not have the votes (i.e., support) to bring the bill up for consideration in the Senate. Open the attached document to view our bill tracking spreadsheet of those bills which survived today’s deadline and remain alive. The next critical deadline is Tuesday, February 27, when committees must pass general bills originating in the other chamber or the bills will die.
