Tuesday, February 2, was the deadline for committees to report general bills originating in their own chamber.  General bills not passed by committees by Tuesday night’s deadline died on the calendar.  Click here to review our first bill tracking spreadsheet which includes those education bills that survived Tuesday’s deadline and are under consideration by the full House or Senate.  Each chamber must pass its general bills by next Thursday, February 11, or the bills will die on the calendar.

While only a few education bills have been passed by their respective chamber at this point, as both chambers just began considering bills Wednesday, the Senate passed an energy bill Wednesday that will expand connectivity and accessibility of high-speed Internet across the state which will benefit our students and educators.  SB 2798 allows energy companies to lease fiber deployed among power grids currently unused for mass Internet connectivity.
