 The Mississippi NBCT Network will host its 2021 Learn and Lead virtual conference on Saturday, November 13, 2021, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The conference is designed for Mississippi NBCT Network members, as well as other Mississippi NBCTs and National Board candidates.     Mississippi’s 2021 Teacher of the Year, Leslie Tally, NBCT, will provide our keynote and share pivotal experiences in her teaching career, with a specific focus on fighting illiteracy by raising awareness for literacy-based deficits throughout our schools and educating not only students, but colleagues and community members on best practices to nurture growing readers. Peggy Brookins, NBCT, President and CEO of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS), will provide a special welcome to participants.  Michelle Accardi, NBCT, Director of Policy and Partnerships for the NBPTS, will provide a National Board update.   The conference will also feature the following presentations:   Teacher Leaders as Advocates (Michelle Accardi, NBCT, Director of Policy and Partnerships for the NBPTS, and JaNet Blackmon, NBCT, Greenwood Public School District)SEL – Meeting the Needs of the Whole Child (Dr. Greg Benner, University of Alabama)Maintaining Your National Board Certification (Barbie Ferguson, NBCT, Deputy Director of the Mississippi Professional Educators)What National Board Certification Looks Like in the Classroom (Members of the Mississippi NBCT Network Executive Committee)Everyday Self-Care for Teachers (Lacey Deese, LPC, BC-TMH, Crossroads Counseling)
   Click here to register.  There is no registration fee.  Please note that you will need to register for each session you wish to attend.  You will then receive a Zoom invitation to each selected session a few days before the conference. Participants must have a device with sufficient internet connection, camera, and audio capabilities. Attendance will be taken during each session.  Participants must attend all virtual sessions and be visible in their camera throughout all sessions in order to receive .6 CEUs for the day.     |
