Lt. Governor Tate Reeves announced on January 3 his nomination of Nancy Collins of Tupelo to the State Board of Education and Bill Billingsley of Madison to the Charter School Authorizer Board. A nurse by trade, Collins served in the state senate from 2012-2016, but lost her reelection bid to Senator Chad McMahan due in large part to her support of vouchers and her efforts to make significant changes to the Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS). Billingsley owns a home health care business. The nominations must be confirmed by the Mississippi Senate.
