The Mississippi State Board of Education held its monthly meeting Thursday, April 17. Among its agenda items, the Board:
Approved beginning the Administrative Procedures Act (APA) process to receive public comments regarding revisions to the business rules of the Mississippi Statewide Accountability System. The U.S. Department of Education has given preliminary approval to this amendment to the Consolidated State Plan which the Board first considered in February 2025, but this item will go back to the State Board for final approval after the public comment period closes. Approved beginning the Administrative Procedures Act (APA) process to receive public comments regarding the elimination of the U.S. History end-of-course assessment as an assessment required for graduation beginning with the 2025-26 school year. Approved adding Mild/Moderate Disability 7-12 (Endorsement Code 224) to the list of approved supplemental endorsements that may be added to a valid three-year internship license or valid five-year standard license by obtaining a passing score on the appropriate Praxis Subject Assessment. The Foundations of Reading Assessment will not serve as a requirement for obtaining the Mild-Moderate Disability 7-12 (Endorsement Code 224) endorsement.
