The Senate Education Committee met yesterday, October 9, and received an update from Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) staff on several matters, including factors that contributed to our state’s educational gains over the past ten years. MDE staff briefed senators on several policies and programs, including the accountability model, MCCR standards, High-Quality Instructional Materials, early learning collaboratives, the Literacy Based Promotion Act, and instructional coaching efforts. The committee met again this morning to continue its conversation with MDE staff. Today’s discussions focused on MDE’s priorities and its work ahead to continue its support of our state’s students and educators. Click here for a livestream of these meetings.
