State Board of Education Holds January 2025 Meeting

The Mississippi State Board of Education held its monthly meeting Thursday, January 16, 2025. Among its agenda items, the Board:

• Recognized W.J. Quarles Elementary in the Long Beach School District and Northside Elementary in the Clinton Public School District for being honored as 2025 National Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) Distinguished Schools.
• Received a progress report on its strategic plan.
• Approved beginning the Administrative Procedures Act (APA) process to readopt the 2016 Mississippi College- and Career-Readiness Standards for English Language Arts and Mathematics.
